I am running for the Taylor School Board because I believe every child deserves access to a safe learning environment, a high-quality education, and opportunities that prepare them for success after graduation.
Over the course of this campaign, I have listened to parents, educators, taxpayers, and community members. While Taylor Public Schools has many strengths, families have consistently shared concerns about student safety, academic performance, and the overall direction of the district.
At the same time, our district has tremendous assets, including dedicated teachers, outstanding Career and Technical Education programs, and ongoing facility improvements. My goal is not simply to identify problems. My goal is to offer practical solutions that help our students succeed and restore confidence in our schools.
Students cannot learn when they do not feel safe.
Parents have expressed concerns regarding bullying, harassment, disruptive behavior, and conduct that creates a negative learning environment for students and teachers.
✅ Strengthen anti-bullying efforts and accountability.
✅ Improve communication between schools and parents regarding student safety concerns.
✅ Support positive behavior programs that promote respect, responsibility, and kindness.
✅ Ensure schools respond quickly and effectively to safety issues.
✅ Foster a school culture where every student feels respected, supported, and valued.
Create safe, welcoming schools where students can focus on learning and reaching their full potential.
Academic success begins with early intervention.
Data shows that many students fall behind academically as they progress through the district, especially in mathematics. We must identify learning gaps early and provide the support students need before those gaps become long-term barriers.
✅ Increase small-group instruction and intervention programs for struggling students.
✅ Expand reading and mathematics support in elementary and middle schools.
✅ Utilize data to identify students who need additional support earlier.
✅ Strengthen academic support services and tutoring opportunities.
✅ Focus on improving student outcomes while emphasizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ensure every student receives the individualized support necessary to succeed academically.
Learning should continue beyond the school year.
Summer programs can prevent learning loss and help students strengthen skills before returning to the classroom.
✅ Expand summer learning opportunities in reading and mathematics.
✅ Provide additional support for students who are performing below grade level.
✅ Offer enrichment programs for advanced learners.
✅ Use summer programs to address learning deficiencies identified during the school year.
Help students return to school confident, prepared, and ready to succeed.
Today's students are preparing for tomorrow's workforce.
Taylor should establish a comprehensive STEM pathway that follows students from elementary school through high school graduation.
✅ Introduce STEM opportunities at the elementary level.
✅ Expand science, technology, engineering, and mathematics programming throughout middle and high school.
✅ Increase opportunities in robotics, coding, engineering, and technology.
✅ Partner with local colleges, universities, and businesses.
✅ Create pathways that lead directly to college credits, certifications, and career opportunities.
Develop a continuous STEM program that prepares students for high-demand careers and future success.
Some students face challenges outside the classroom that affect their ability to attend school and learn effectively.
Students deserve access to the resources necessary to overcome those challenges.
✅ Increase access to counselors, psychologists, social workers, and mental health professionals.
✅ Expand social-emotional learning supports.
✅ Strengthen attendance intervention efforts.
✅ Connect students and families with community resources when needed.
✅ Ensure students receive the support necessary to overcome barriers to learning.
Address the academic, emotional, and social needs of students so they can thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Every student deserves opportunities to be challenged.
✅ Increase Advanced Placement (AP) course offerings at Taylor High School.
✅ Expand Dual Enrollment opportunities with local colleges and universities.
✅ Identify and support academically gifted students earlier.
✅ Create advanced academic pathways that prepare students for college and competitive careers.
Provide rigorous academic opportunities that help students reach their highest potential.
One of Taylor's greatest strengths is our exceptional Career and Technical Education Center.
These programs provide students with valuable hands-on experience while preparing them for careers in high-demand fields. Many programs also include articulation agreements with local colleges, allowing students to earn college credit while still in high school.
✅ Expand awareness of available CTE programs.
✅ Increase student enrollment in career and technical education pathways.
✅ Strengthen partnerships with local businesses and employers.
✅ Promote careers in healthcare, skilled trades, engineering, technology, business, manufacturing, and other growing industries.
✅ Continue building pathways that connect education directly to employment opportunities.
Ensure every graduate leaves high school with a clear pathway to college, skilled trades, military service, entrepreneurship, or a career.
Strong schools require strong community partnerships.
✅ Develop partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, and civic organizations.
✅ Expand mentorship opportunities for students.
✅ Encourage volunteerism and community service.
✅ Develop internship and job-shadowing opportunities.
✅ Teach students the importance of civic responsibility and community engagement.
Prepare students to become informed citizens, future leaders, and active members of our community.
The community deserves open and honest communication regarding district finances and decision-making.
✅ Maintain full transparency regarding district finances and spending.
✅ Clearly communicate how taxpayer resources are being utilized.
✅ Encourage meaningful stakeholder input before major decisions are made.
✅ Hold regular opportunities for community feedback and engagement.
✅ Ensure decisions are made in the best interests of students and taxpayers.
Build trust through transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public resources.
Many candidates can point to problems.
Fewer are willing to offer detailed solutions.
Throughout this campaign, I will focus on presenting practical ideas that move Taylor Public Schools forward. My campaign is not centered on personal agendas, political divisions, or opposing every proposal that comes before the Board.
I believe school board members should be problem-solvers, collaborators, and advocates for students.
When challenges arise, our responsibility is not simply to criticize. Our responsibility is to develop solutions, build consensus, and make decisions that improve outcomes for students.
That is why I have proposed a comprehensive plan focused on:
Improving student achievement.
Strengthening student support services.
Expanding summer learning opportunities.
Building a district-wide STEM pathway.
Increasing AP and Dual Enrollment opportunities.
Growing Career and Technical Education enrollment.
Strengthening community partnerships.
Improving school climate and student safety.
Maintaining transparency and fiscal responsibility.
I will bring an educator's perspective, a commitment to accountability, and a focus on results.
Every decision I make as a School Board Trustee will be guided by one simple question:
If the answer is yes, I will support it.
If the answer is no, I will work to find a better solution.
Together, we can build stronger schools, improve student achievement, restore community confidence, and make Taylor Public Schools the first choice for Taylor families once again.
